Executive Board

ACSA management is entrusted to an Executive Committee of Directors who are representatives of Full Members. The Association’s major activities are accomplished by working groups whose membership is determined by the Executive Committee. Executive meetings are held on a regular basis to discuss working group activities, advocacy priorities and emerging issues.

 

ACSA Chair

David Knights - NAB Asset Servicing

David Knights joined NAB Asset Servicing in 2013. David has over 20 years of multi-industry experience, spanning engineering, management consulting and banking & finance. He joined NAB in 2002, and has held senior roles across the Personal Bank, Business Bank, and Operations. Most recently David has demonstrated his breadth of financial experience through leading the business configuration of the new NAB core banking platform.

In his current role as General Manager, Client Delivery for NAB Asset Servicing he brings extensive operational and product management expertise to the ACSA Executive Committee.

Previously David has worked for Bevington Group (originally BCG) leading consulting assignments across the finance, logistics, healthcare and primary resource industries. His early career in engineering blends financial analysis, complex problem solving, strategic insight and continuous improvement skills into consistent, successful project delivery.

ACSA Treasurer

Daryl Crich - BNP Paribas Securities Services

Daryl commenced at BNP Paribas Securities Services over 20 years ago. Daryl is the Australasian Chief Administrative Officer and Head of Product Management. Daryl is responsible for product development, product profitability, and strategic implementation in the Region.

Prior to that, Daryl spent 10 years with KPMG in their Audit and Advisory Services Division, participating in their Banking and Finance Group for the last three years.

Daryl has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales, and is a Chartered Accountant.

ACSA Deputy Chair

Marian Azer - RBC Investor & Treasury Services Australia

Marian is Managing Director, Head of Product, Asia Pacific and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Global Client Coverage at RBC Investor & Treasury Services (RBC I&TS) Australia.

 

As Head of Product, Asia Pacific, Marian leads and oversees all product development activity regionally and is responsible for delivering client-centric solutions to support the changing needs of RBC I&TS’ clients. Marian is also an active advocate in the industry, promoting investment operational excellence and innovation.

 

As COO, Global Client Coverage, Marian provides governance across all Australian Global Client Coverage activities, covering sales, marketing, product management and strategic project oversight.

 

Marian joined RBC I&TS in 2017, and has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to RBC I&TS Marian was Head of Product, Investor Services in Australia and New Zealand at JP Morgan. Marian also spent 7 years as a Principal within the Mercer Sentinel business, a specialist division within Mercer’s Investment consulting business, where she consulted to clients across Asia Pacific and North America across a broad range of global custody, investment operations, operating model and transition management.

   

Andrew Gibson - Citi

Andrew joined Citi in 2004 as the Head of Corporate Actions for Australia and New Zealand, before moving to the role of a Product Manager in August 2007. In 2014 Andrew was appointed to the role of Head of Direct Custody and Clearing for Australia & New Zealand.

Prior to joining Citi, Andrew spent 18 years with National Asset Servicing (NAS), where he performed a product development / business analyst role and a variety of operational roles, culminating in 3 years as the Head of Corporate Actions.

Andrew has been a long term active participant in industry working groups and was recognised for his contribution to the custody and investment administration sector with an Australian Custodian Services Association (ACSA) industry award in 2010.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from RMIT University Melbourne and a Certificate in Financial Markets (Securities Institute of Australia).

 

Craig Twentyman - J.P. Morgan

Craig Twentyman is Head of Custody Product for JP Morgan Custody & Funds Services business in Australia and New Zealand. In this role Craig has responsibility for JP Morgan’s Global Custody product and Head of Direct Custody & Clearing for Australia & New Zealand.

 

Prior to joining JP Morgan, Craig was Head of Citigroup’s Securities Services Domestic Operations for Australia and New Zealand.


Craig’s career in financial services has spanned over 30 years . During this time, Craig held a variety of positions, working across Asia Pacific in Operational, Account Management and Product roles, before returning to Australia in 2005.

Sinclair Scholfield - State Street Global Services

Sinclair heads the State Street Sector Solutions team for Australia and New Zealand and Consultant Relations for the Asia-Pacific region. He has held a variety of positions over 15 years at State Street, including in Wealth Manager Services, Securities Finance, Global Services and business development, and this has seen him design, implement and manage asset servicing solutions for State Street’s clients around the world. Prior to his current role, he was Managing Director, APAC COO and head of State Street’s Securities Finance business in Australia and New Zealand having relocated from London to Sydney in 2011. He joined the Securities Finance group in London in 2007 as the Asset Liability Manager for the agency lending program in Europe and Asia-Pacific. Sinclair joined State Street in 2003 as a member of the Wealth Manager Services division in Boston, MA. He was appointed Managing Director of Wealth Manager Services in London in 2005 and relocated there from the USA. His London role incorporated responsibility for sales, relationship management, trade & income processing, client reporting and regulatory engagements.

Prior to joining State Street, Sinclair was Director of Product Design for Central Trade Manager (CTM) at Omgeo in Boston (a Thomson Reuters / DTCC joint venture), and previously was a Manager in the Financial Services group of Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), working in Sydney and throughout the USA.

Mr. Scholfield received a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree majoring in Economics, Accounting and Commercial Law from the University of Sydney, a Masters in Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA, and has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Peter Snodgrass - HSBC

Peter joined HSBC in 2005 as Head of HSS Sydney, responsible for the Sub Custody and Fund Services business with 130 staff, AUD500bn in AUC. In 2010 he began a six year International Secondment with HSBC, initially with 2 years running the Japanese Sub Custody and Clearing business based in Tokyo implementing Third Party Clearing, 2 years heading up the CTLA business based in New York and then finally in 2014 he assumed the role Head of HSS Service Delivery based in Manila, Philippines where he ran the HSBC global service center team of more than 350 people which delivered back and middle office support for the Global and Sub Custody, Broker back office and Fund of Funds business’ within HSS.

 

In 2015 Peter returned to Sydney as Head of the Direct Custody & Clearing business which processes over 6 million transactions per year and holds over AUD $900bn of Clients’ AUC.

Peter has a broad exposure with over 30 years’ experience in the Banking, Custodial and Financial Market segments having also worked at BNP Paribas, Commonwealth Custodial Services and Westpac Custodian Nominees in Australia prior to joining HSBC.

Sally Surgeon - Northern Trust

Sally is a Senior Vice President and Head of Client Services Australasia and Head of Sydney office. In this role, Sally is responsible for relationship and client servicing for asset servicing clients based in Australia and New Zealand and as Head of the Sydney office is responsible for Sydney based partners, clients, consultants and industry relationships.

Sally joined Northern Trust in 2005 and has over 20 years’ experience within the financial services industry which includes the delivery of custody, fund administration and investment operations and reporting services to asset manager and asset owner client segments.

Prior to Northern Trust, Sally worked at State Street where she held a number of positions in operations, project management and consulting services in both their Sydney and London offices.

Sally holds a Bachelor of Economics (Macquarie University) and is a member of both CFA Society of the UK (IMC) and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Sally has previously been a member of the Women in Super’s Victoria Committee (2012/13) and chair of the Australian Custodial Services Association’s (ACSA’s) Communications Working Group.
